Home » Letter to Parents, Spring 2016

Dear Parents,

Despite the very blustery weather, spring is on its way! The work of the Governing Board is back in full swing after the Christmas break so I thought I’d update you on what’s happening.

Last term the Governing Board’s work focused primarily on data, analysing RAISE online (school performance data for EYFS, KS1 (Year 2) and KS2 (year 6) SATs results). At our meetings we ask lots of questions about outcomes for our pupils. Ensuring pupil progress and attainment is at the heart of what we do. To achieve this we look at our school’s results in comparison to those attained nationally and also compare them to the school’s performance year on year.

The school’s successes in 2015 include:

  • Reading

  • Grammar, punctuation and spelling

  • Phonics

  • Mathematics

This term we are involved in financial planning for the year ahead (2016-17). The Governing Board regularly inspects the school’s finances and asks challenging questions about spending to ensure value for money.

The PTFA’s Valentine’s Disco is on Wednesday 10th February 2016 and I’m sure the children will have lots of fun dancing their socks off!

As usual, should you have any comments or questions about the work of the Governing Board, please contact me via the school office.

Yours faithfully

Fiona Weston
